Alliance for Responsible
Energy of Northern Arizona
ARENA Website: Arena-WhiteMountains.info
The mission of the Alliance
for Responsible Energy of Northern Arizona (ARENA) is to help
keep the rural communities
of Northern Arizona safe, healthy, and sustainable as the area
addresses the possibility
of renewable energy facilities locating here. Conscientious
stewardship and conservation
of local environments, including natural resources, living
conditions, and economies,
are vital needs as the nation pursues a sustainable energy
economy.
Working as an Action Team,
ARENA members study and evaluate the environmental
consequences of proposed
projects, including effects on human health and socioeconomic
conditions. In addition,
ARENA members monitor and assess the impacts of choices already
made and projects implemented
in the area, and study cumulative impacts. The studies are
the basis for public education
and outreach, participation in community development activities,
and advocacy with regulatory
agencies.
